System 21 Well Control Receives Approval by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) WellCAP Program |
NEW ORLEANS, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Well Control School (WCS), a subsidiary of RPC, Inc. (NYSE: RES), announced today the approval of System 21(TM) Well Control under the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) WellCAP(R) program. System 21(TM), launched during the Offshore Technology Conference, has also been approved by the Minerals Management Service (MMS) in Well Control and Production Safety Systems Training. Well Control School is the only company to offer IADC and MMS approved interactive Well Control training and certification.
This interactive computer-based program was created to assess competency of personnel at the various certification levels required by the IADC and MMS. System 21(TM) contains self-paced programs containing over 2000 topics and skills offering the highest level of training, testing, simulation, and overall employee competence to the oil and gas industry. Interactive tasks and role-playing familiarize learners with well control and production safety concepts, emphasizing correct procedure and teamwork. Computer graphics dramatically depict downhole conditions such as deepwater or horizontal drilling. As students complete each module, their skill level is recorded and progress reports are generated as the users work toward obtaining certification for well control in Drilling, Well Completion / Workover, Well Servicing (Snubbing, Coiled Tubing, Wireline), for surface and subsea blowout prevention qualification and production safety operations.
Steve Kropla, Director of Accreditation & Certification for IADC, provided a letter of approval for System 21(TM) Well Control training. In that letter, dated May 24, 2001, Kropla stated," ... the panel believes that System 21 and similar systems may offer advantages that make them of interest to the industry, such as consistency of training quality and flexibility in scheduling and delivering required training. In this regard, WCS is to be acknowledged for the work it has done to pioneer technological innovation in the area of well control training."
The course content and reports generated by System 21(TM) helps companies conform to the standards set forth by ISO 9000 addressing training, record keeping and quality audits. System 21(TM) is a valuable tool for companies to use to qualify and maintain ISO certification.
